Parentage: Lactiflora Gp ‘Mi Ni’ x Radix Paeonia Alba (Bai-shao in Chinese) which is cultivated for herbal preparations. First bloomed 2008. Early season flowering. SINGLE with two rows of guard petals, pure white. The flower is 13.2 cm (5¼ inches) diameter. Carpels 5 in number, pale green, sparsely covered with white hairs. Stigmas red. Stamens in the ¼-½ inch range forming a small tidy center. Seed and pollen fertile. Flowers very fragrant. Thin wiry stems are reddish near the top. Upright growth habit to 72 cm (29 inches) in height. Mechanical support not needed. The name paints a picture of the rising of a young phoenix (represented by the white petals) from the flame-like stamens and red stigmas, reborn from the fire.
