Seedling D-448. Parentage: Seedling S-501 x P. peregrina. Midseason bloom, advanced generation herbaceous hybrid. Medium height with medium-sized SINGLE flowers of an unusually rich scarlet. Typical of plants of this heritage, petals have narrow flares on the exterior face, white at the base then pink before merging with the primary petal color at about half the petal’s length. One flower per stem, size 5 ½ inches (14 cm). Neatly rounded petals 1 ½ inches in width. Generally four green carpels with pale pink stigmas. The ¾ inch filaments are red their entire length. Pollen and seed fertile. No fragrance. Upright growth habit to 32 inches (80 cm) at maturity. A handsome, well-proportioned plant with erect carriage and peregrina type foliage.
