Here is an interesting article published by University of Michigan about viruses in peonies. We are seeing a lot of visual indications of virus recently. It seems to be more common.

Paeonia kesrouanensis has some of the largest seeds in the peony kingdom. I’m not sure if the same can be said of P. turcica, which is sometimes said to be synonymous, as I don’t have mature plants thereof. I don’t have much experience growing Paeonia obovata and P. japonica plants, they tend not to grow very well here for some reason. Already at the point of harvesting cut peony stems of Elsa Sass. It’s going fast this year, with quite some difficulties (read: botrytis) due to the wet weather. No, that won’t work with peonies. There aren’t that many ways of propagating peonies. Herbaceous ones are exclusively propagated through division. Seeds don’t give plants identical to the mother and would take many years anyway. Tree peonies are propagated through division or grafting onto (herbaceous) rootstocks.
